The Saudade Square, the gateway to the historic centre of Conceição do Mato Dentro, had lost its character through refurbishments. Our goal was to restore it, working closely with local residents. A stream runs through the square, making water a central feature. The embankment was redesigned to encourage greater interaction with this element.

 The Saudade Fountain, lost in previous renovations, was reintroduced as a landmark. All materials—iron, stone, and wood—are locally sourced. The pavement pattern reflects the alignment of the windows and doors of the surrounding historic mansions. By restoring its urban qualities, the square regains its simplicity and distinctive character.
